Pre Purchase Inspections

Looking at Purchasing a Caravan or Motorhome?

It might be worth having it checked out before you commit to buy.

​

PLEASE NOTE: Always have the sellers permission before booking this service.

We have had a customers split the cost of the Gold service and both the seller and customer have kept a copy of the inspection sheet.

​

We have different grades of inspection-

Please select which inspection you require.

​

Bronze - £180 (1 hour inspection)

​

A basic inspection of road worthiness aimed at establishing if the caravan can be towed away should you decide to purchase it.

The following areas will be inspected with a report on the points shown:

  • Parking brake – overrun actuation and recoil

  • Jockey Wheel security

  • Safety latch / catch on coupling

  • Emergency breaking system (breakaway cable)

  • Raise caravan/ motorhome to check condition, age and suitability of tyres

  • Check wheels freely rotate and that bearings are not noisy

  • Wheel bolt torque settings

  • 12n lights and reflectors

  • Check all doors, windows and hatches close securely

  • Check all other body parts and attachments are secure

Silver - £230 (2 hours inspection)

​

  • Parking brake – overrun actuation and recoil

  • Jockey Wheel security

  • Safety latch / catch on coupling

  • Emergency breaking system (breakaway cable)

  • Raise caravan/ motorhome to check condition, age and suitability of tyres

  • Check wheels freely rotate and that bearings are not noisy

  • Wheel bolt torque settings

  • 12n lights and reflectors

  • Check all doors, windows and hatches close securely

  • Check all other body parts and attachments are secure

Gas System

  • Gas tightness test in accordance with UKLPG guidance 14

  • Check security of gas bottle straps

Electrical 240v

  • Hook up unit and mechanical test at RCD electrical safety trip switch

Body shell and floor

  • Damp test noting down any adverse readings on check sheet report

  • Check for floor delamination

12 Volt

  • Check charging circuit

Gold - £270 (3 Hours Inspection)

​

  • Parking brake – overrun actuation and recoil

  • Jockey Wheel security

  • Safety latch / catch on coupling

  • Emergency breaking system (breakaway cable)

  • Raise caravan/ motorhome to check condition, age and suitability of tyres

  • Check wheels freely rotate and that bearings are not noisy

  • Wheel bolt torque settings

  • 12n lights and reflectors

  • Check all doors, windows and hatches close securely

  • Check all other body parts and attachments are secure

  • Issue a general condition statement

  • Offer estimate for repairs needed to correct faults

Gas System

  • Gas tightness test in accordance with UKLPG guidance 14

  • Check security of gas bottle straps

  • Gas safety certificate

Electrical 240v

  • Hook up unit and mechanical test at RCD electrical safety trip switch

  • Test all 240 volt sockets

  • Test ampere functionality of 240v appliance’s

  • Check earth bonding

Body shell and floor

  • Damp test

  • Check for floor delamination

  • Issue full damp inspection report

12 Volt

  • Check charging circuit

  • Check 12v functionality and fridge

In all instances the pre purchase inspection is a report on the condition found at the time of the inspection and only represents the exact findings at that time.

A pre purchase inspection is not:

  • A valuation or indication of value

  • A recommendation to purchase or to not purchase

  • A guarantee of the caravan or motorhome
